There’s something special about senior photos along the Platte River, and Addy’s session near Camp Augustine in Grand Island was exactly that. She told me she really wanted river pictures closer to home. So we spent the evening finding the perfect little slice of sandy shoreline tucked between tall grasses and late-summer wildflowers. It was quiet, warm, and had that soft golden haze you only get in Nebraska this time of year.
One of the sweetest details from her session was her outfit. Addy wore the most gorgeous denim dress that her grandma made for her. It had tiers, ruffles, and the kind of personality you just don’t find in a store. Paired with her cowboy boots and a chunky belt, she leaned perfectly into her western style without trying too hard. It felt so her. I love when people bring sentimental things to their session, this was the absolute perfect dress and the countless hours her grandma put in were incredible.
She looked right at home in the sand with wildflowers, and settling onto old driftwood logs by the water.
Alongside her boots and denim, Addy brought something extra meaningful: her Bible. I am LOVING this trend of bring your Bible to your senior pictures. I have had several seniors do it this past season and it hands down brings me so much joy seeing our teens lean into the Word. It makes me so proud of our youth and I cannot wait to see this faith journey continue to grow!
The light that evening was magical. It was hit/miss on the way out if it was going to rain, I remember being worried about the clouds but they were the absolute perfect amount needed to give us the look we were going for. I’ve shot pictures before at Camp Augustine and I knew we were going to get some epic pictures for her senior session. The Platte River near Grand Island has this calm, peaceful beauty, and it created the perfect scenery for what she was wanting.
If there’s one thing I love about photographing seniors around the Grand Island, Wood River, Alda, and Doniphan areas, it’s how many little hidden locations like this exist. Sandbars, rivers, tall grass, summer flowers, wide open fields, nothing fancy, just honest Nebraska nature doing it’s thing!
Addy’s session was a sweet reminder of that.

If you’re a senior dreaming of a relaxed, fun session that feels true to you, I’d love to photograph your story! Whether you’re wanting river views, fields, florals, or something completely different, we’ll create images you’ll love for years.
