Capturing the Spirit of a Waverly High School Senior

Senior year is such a special time, and I absolutely loved getting to capture Grace’s personality and celebrate cheer with her! We kicked off her session at Waverly High School to highlight one of the biggest parts of her high school experience—cheerleading! Then, we wrapped up with a dreamy golden-hour session at Branched Oak Lake near Malcolm, NE.

Since Grace was involved in Waverly High School cheer, we made sure to incorporate plenty of cheer-themed senior portraits. She brought her pompoms, wore her cheer uniform, and showed off her letterman jacket and I had so much fun chatting with her about all the fun things they get to do for their cheer team. We took some of her senior pictures in the bleachers, where she spent so many Friday nights cheering on the Vikings. It was so fun to capture her energy and love for the sport!

Sunset Senior Pictures at Branched Oak Lake

For the second half of Grace’s session, we headed over to Branched Oak Lake near Malcolm and Raymond, NE. She chose the most stunning blush-colored dress, which flowed beautifully in the breeze. To add a special touch, she brought along a small bouquet of flowers—the perfect pop of color against the golden Nebraska landscape. I’ve become obsessed with the flower bouquet trend that I’ve been seeing for senior pictures and highly encourage ALL of my seniors to bring a cheap (and cute) bouquet of their fav flowers to incorporate into pictures.

One of my favorite parts of this session was the gorgeous wooden antique chair her family brought along. I love when seniors incorporate props that add personality to their session. Whether it’s a chair, flowers, or something meaningful to you, little details can help bring your vision to life!
